DAYRECEIPT / PRIVACY

Your activity
stays yours.

An honest account of what stays on your Mac, what we receive if you contact us, and how this website works.

Effective date: October 23, 2026

01

The short version

DayReceipt is a native macOS application that records foreground application time and turns it into daily receipts. The app works offline and stores its activity history on your Mac. We do not automatically receive your activity records.

This policy covers the DayReceipt app, this support website, and messages you choose to send us. Information you send to support is treated differently from activity that stays inside the app.

02

What the app stores on your Mac

DayReceipt stores application identifiers and display names, foreground interval start and end timestamps, closure reasons, category snapshots and assignments, application exclusions, settings, and optional daily notes. These records can reveal patterns of computer use.

The app uses local SwiftData storage and macOS preferences. It does not use a DayReceipt account, backend, cloud sync, advertising SDK, remote analytics SDK, or external AI API. Activity is not automatically sent to the developer.

03

What the app does not record

DayReceipt does not record screenshots, screen contents, document contents, browser URLs or browsing history, typed keys, mouse coordinates, conversations, microphone audio, or camera video. It does not maintain clipboard history or read Apple's private Screen Time database.

The core tracking feature does not require Screen Recording, Accessibility, or Input Monitoring permission. System idle duration is read through a public macOS API, without logging input contents.

04

Your tracking controls

Recording begins only after you enable tracking and operates only while the DayReceipt process is running. You can pause recording, disable it, or exclude individual apps. DayReceipt itself is excluded by default.

Idle detection is optional. When enabled, it includes the configured grace period and excludes time beyond that boundary. The app stops counting sleep and inactive-session periods and conservatively excludes long unobserved gaps. It does not reconstruct past activity while the app was quit.

05

Exports, sharing, and optional system features

When you export a PNG, PDF, or CSV, the file is written to a location you choose. Copy Receipt intentionally places a generated image on the system clipboard. Share passes a generated file to a macOS sharing destination you select; that destination may process it under its own policies.

Generated sharing files are stored in the app's temporary directory and may remain until removed by macOS or ordinary storage cleanup. Receipt exports and notes may contain personal information, so review them before sharing.

Optional reminders use macOS local notifications and require your authorization. Optional Launch at Login uses macOS ServiceManagement. Neither feature sends activity records to the developer.

06

Retention and deletion

Your activity history remains locally available until you delete it. In Settings → Data & privacy → Delete All Activity Data…, you can delete recorded intervals and daily notes after confirmation. Application exclusions and preferences remain; preferences can be reset separately.

Deletion removes records from the active app database. It is not a forensic secure erase and does not remove macOS backups or snapshots, saved exports, temporary sharing files, shared copies, or clipboard contents. DayReceipt does not maintain its own remote backup.

Local app data is subject to your Mac's account, storage, and backup protections. People with access to your account or backups may be able to access it.

When you contact support

If you email dayreceipt.support@proton.me, we receive your email address, the contents of your message, and any information or attachments you choose to send, such as your name, app version, error details, or a receipt screenshot.

We use this information to answer your request, troubleshoot issues, and improve support. We do not automatically attach app activity or device logs. Please do not send passwords or unnecessary personal information.

Support email is handled through Proton Mail and the email providers involved in delivering your message. Their processing is governed by their own policies, including Proton Mail's privacy policy. We retain support correspondence only for as long as needed to handle the request and related support records, or as required by applicable obligations. You can ask us to delete your correspondence.

09

Privacy questions and requests

Contact dayreceipt.support@proton.me with questions, correction requests, or requests to delete support correspondence. You can manage app activity locally without contacting us.

We cannot remotely access, retrieve, or delete activity records that remain solely on your Mac. The privacy choices or rights available to you may depend on your location and the information involved. We will respond to requests as applicable.

10

Changes to this policy

If DayReceipt's data handling changes, we will update this page and its effective date. Any future collection or service integration should be reflected here before it is introduced.
